Trump will Impose Tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China on Saturday
In a White House briefing today by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced that on Saturday, February 1, 2025, President Trump will assess tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China. Canada and Mexico will have 25% tariffs placed on certain products and China will have 10% assessed. The anticipated effective date for the collections to begin will be March 1, which will allow the International Trade Commission (ITC) to update the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and give U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) time to program the changes in ACE for entry processing. We will try to have more details after the Saturday announcements.
